In 2025, our lineup was expanded with two new fire control grips, so it’s worth taking a closer look at how to use them properly.
And anticipating your inevitable comment about the “right” or “wrong” grip, let us clarify right away: the only truly wrong option would probably be mounting a CRC 9048P grip instead of iron sights. Everything else is highly individual. That’s why in this blog, we share our team’s real-world experience and our vision of optimal fire control grip usage.
No grips at all?

Yes! There are plenty of situations where simply gripping the handguard is more than sufficient. With extended grips on AK-platform rifles—where ergonomically sound tactical gripping options have traditionally been limited—medium and long handguards play a key role. They not only provide additional mounting interfaces for accessories, but also protect the support hand from a hot barrel and gas tube, while allowing for a longer, more comfortable grip that improves overall weapon control.

Don’t let their compact size fool you. These small accessories are the lightest and most minimal way to define a consistent gripping zone on the handguard. Mounted on the bottom or side, finger stops allow the shooter to apply directional pressure and better drive the weapon onto the target. The CRC 9041 also features an integrated QD sling mount, giving it a dual purpose: a convenient sling attachment point and a functional support stop during weapon handling.

These grips have no forward or rearward angle, and their size allows for a very firm grip when maximum control is required. Picatinny and M-LOK interfaces allow the grip to be positioned exactly where it works best for the shooter—even mounted fully vertical if desired.
Ideal for those who don’t look for compromises when it comes to control and grip size.
Compatible with most Snickers bars on the market… We felt obligated to share this information.
Small angled grip

Our small angled grip is the sweet spot between a full-size vertical grip and a simple finger stop. Its compact size, low weight, and M-LOK mounting allow for stable weapon control during firing. The gripping surface is textured to reduce slipping, even with wet or dirty hands. Thanks to the angle of its lower section, it also works effectively as a barricade stop.
Medium angled grip

The medium angled grip is a full-fledged alternative to a vertical grip. Its ergonomics support a wide variety of grip styles and also make weapon transport more convenient. Lightweight, comfortable, rigid, and dope looks — everything you’d expect from KPYK accessories.
angled grip and finger stop combo

Here, the angled grip works in tandem with a finger stop. This is the perfect solution when a vertical grip feels excessive, but a “bare” handguard doesn’t provide enough control.
It’s the choice of those who actively maneuver their weapon, as the combination of an angled grip and finger stop allows you to create a customizable M-LOK grip zone tailored precisely to your needs and your mission.
Final Recommendations
KPYK offers a wide range of grips and other handguard-mounted accessories designed to enhance weapon handling. We encourage you to choose only what truly works for you. To do that, it’s important to understand which grip style you use most often and what you prioritize—maximum stability or weight savings. Within our lineup, you’ll undoubtedly find the ideal combination for your setup.
